Six charged with drug offences

● SIX defendants have been remanded into custody following dawn raids focused on Runcorn and Widnes.

Paul Fazakerley, 29, of Caernarvon Close, Runcorn; Tamar O’Brien, 33, of Crannage Close, Runcorn; Greg Carter, 26, Davies Close, Widnes; Stephen Snelson, 31, of Longshaw Street, Warrington; Philip Pendergast, 42, of Christleto­n Drive, Ellesmere Port and Anthony Jones, 31, of Kingsley Walk, Winsford, appeared at North Cheshire Magistrate­s Court on Wednesday, March 15.

They are due to appear at Liverpool Crown Court on Wednesday, April 12.

The six suspects are charged with conspiracy to supply the Class A drug, cocaine.

Police made the arrests as officers swooped on seven addresses across north Cheshire including three in Runcorn and one in Widnes. The action was dubbed Operation Alien and was the second phase of an operation targeting alleged organised crime and illegal drugs.

Thirteen suspects were arrested and charged following a series of warrants focused on Merseyside two weeks before in connection with conspiracy to supply Class A drugs. The raids were part of Cheshire police’s wider Operation Impact anti-drugs campaign.
