WARNING AFTER CARAVANS STOLEN

-

SECURITY tips have been issued to caravan owners in Widnes after two were stolen from the area.

A Cheshire police alert said that officers have also received reports of a man ‘paying particular attention’ to another caravan, as well as the thefts.

Security advice has now been given by police. Caravan owners are advised to check windows and doors are locked firmly and security and if required, to add or replace locks, or add hitch locks so that no one else can hook up a caravan and tow it away.

Further advice includes adding wheel locks to wheels, to consider fitting a tracking device which can also reduce insurance, as well as investing in a caravan alarm such as those which emit a startling noise when activated.

Other deterrents include numbers etched on windows, brightly coloured wheel clamps, marking items inside with a postcode and recording serial numbers and descriptions of interior fittings.
