Students wow judges with their hair-raising creations
STUDENTS at a Halton college wowed a panel of judges with their creative talents in an annual competition. The full day event at Riverside College involved those studying hair and media make-up courses compete in themed competition categories to test out the skills learned so far.
The contest provides experience of working under pressurised conditions and also helps the students prepare for future UK Skills and other national competitions.
Following strict competi- tion criteria, the students worked to impress industry professionals and the event judges.
The panel included salon development trainer Kevin Hamm, freelance hairdressers Helen Booth, Dominique Murphy, and Nicola Grugell, make-up artist and external quality assessor Alex Black, as well as former Riverside student and now salon owner Katy Sullivan.
Riverside media makeup lecturer Lara Kelsall said: “I am immeasurably proud of the hard work and dedication from our students.
“They worked day and night to produce incredibly comprehensive and well executed work.
“They will be a credit to the industry.”
