Care home’s VIP visit

● A WIDNES nursing home’s refurbishm­ent has been viewed by Halton’s mayor.

Ged Philbin and mayoress Rosalin Wong visited Ferndale Mews on St Michael’s Road as part of an official opening ceremony.

During the afternoon residents, relatives, and profession­als were able to join in the celebratio­ns, look round the home and the work undertaken.

The home now includes a beauty salon, a large reception and café area.

The refurbishm­ent is part of Ferndale Mews owners HC One’s £100m investment programme.

Ferndale Mews manager John Holland said: “Residents, relatives and members of the care team were invited to vote for their favourite design schemes and have been consulted throughout the refurbishm­ent programme, after all, it’s their home.

“The refurbishm­ent has been completed to a high quality and we are looking forward to showcasing the home.”

During the event there was entertainm­ent by the JJ’s as well as the opportunit­y to meet Mr Holland and other members of the HC One management team.

The firm’s managing director Glen Mason said: “At HC One we are investing in our care homes with a major investment programme to ensure quality refurbishm­ent within our homes.

“We are delighted with the work that has been done at Ferndale Mews and welcome the local community to come and have a look round.”
