Hornets U15s sting the Sharks

HFH U15 30 HORNETS recorded a great win at Shevington which started with an early try for Harvey McDaid.

He showed some nice footwork before going in at the corner for a 6-0 lead.

Shevington responded on the quarter-hour to even the score at 6-6.

Lewis Dodd with a jinking run then went in under the posts and Hornets were up 12-6.

Straight from the kick-off Joe Barnes created a nice gap for teammate Daniel Hill to go under the sticks and Hornets led 18-6 at the interval.

The second period started as the first had finished with Barnes creating another nice gap for Dodd to cross the whitewash and Hornets were now in full control at 24-6.

Fifteen minutes later Shevington struck back with a well-worked converted try.

After a display of strong defence from both sides, Dodd scored with five minutes left to make it 30-12.

Straight from the short kick-off, Shevington worked their way up the field to make it 30-16 before adding another unconverte­d try before the end but Hornets bagged the victory. Shevington U9 4 HFH Greens U9 8 HORNETS travelled to Shevington and played a really good game with great defensive efforts on show from both teams.

In the end, Hornets came away with the win.

Single tries came from top tackler Connor Simons, opposition man-of-the-match Tom Krause and Lewis Lunt.

Jack Campbell scored a brace of tries and man-of-the-match recipient George McKeown crossed for a hat-trick. Ollie Reeves received the coaches’ award.
