Derby tie ahead in the T20

WIDNES Cricket Club and Didsbury IV are new entrants for the Third XI Joseph Holt T20 Cup, raising the entry numbers to 34.

Teams have been divided into three geographic zones – East having five mini groups, Central with two mini groups and West also with two.

These groups comprise three or four teams each playing opponents once. Winning teams will be awarded two points with cancelled or abandoned games earning one. These games are scheduled for this Sunday – April 23 – next Sunday (April 30) and Bank Holiday Monday, May 1. Mini group matches have all been given default dates – matches may be moved or re-arranged by mutual agreement and all matches must be played by Sunday, May 28.

In the knockout stages there will be a match followed by quarterfin­als to establish which four will go through to Finals Day. All games are of 20 overs per innings and start at 1pm.

Tasty encounters are promised in the Western Division group featuring Widnes as they will play Runcorn and Tattenhall.
