Teen boy robbed at knifepoint

A TEENAGE boy was robbed at knifepoint while cycling across the Silver Jubilee Bridge between Runcorn and Widnes.

A Cheshire police spokeswoma­n said that the incident took place around 4.45pm on Sunday, May 7.

The spokeswoma­n said two teenagers were cycling across the bridge when the victim was ‘believed’ to have been threatened by three ‘males’ with a knife.

The trio fled the scene with the victim’s bicycle.

Police attended the scene and two teenagers aged 16 and 19 were arrested on suspicion of robbery and have since been released under investigat­ion pending further enquires.

Officers are appealing for informatio­n following the alleged offence.

Chief Inspector Richard Rees, of Widnes Local Policing Unit, said: “This is a particular­ly nasty offence which has left the victim, who was just cycling home with his friend, extremely shaken.

“I am extremely keen to trace those responsibl­e for this incident and as part of the investigat­ion we are trying to locate the male who fled the scene on the victim’s bicycle.

“This incident took place during a busy time of day, along a path which has a lot of local residents drive along.

“I am extremely keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the incident take place, or who may know the identity or location of the outstandin­g offender.”
