Steve puts best foot forward...

● A COBBLER from Runcorn is putting his ‘heart and sole’ into a five-day charity walk for Child Bereavement UK.

Steve Jones, 56, is due to start the 70-mile Cumbrian Way walk on Saturday, May 27, starting in Ulverston and finishing in Carlisle.

Eager walker Steve, who runs a shoe repair and key cutting business, has previously walked the entire length of Hadrian’s Wall for Child Bereavement UK after starting to volunteer for it in 2014.

The charity supports families and educates professionals when a baby or child of any age dies or is dying, or when a child is facing bereavement.

Steve said “I’ve been training for several months for this event and am excited to try and raise as much money as possible for this wonderful charity, which is very close to my heart.

“The work the charity is doing in the North West is really important so it’s a great cause to raise money for and I can’t wait to get started.”

Seb Farrell, Child Bereavement UK’s fundraising and communications officer in Runcorn, said: “Steve is a dedicated and passionate fundraising volunteer and we’re so grateful for all of his efforts.

“The funds raised by Steve will help us to continue our vital work helping families to rebuild their lives after child bereavement.

“We’d all like to wish him the very best of luck.”
