NOT UP TO THE PM’S JOB

- J Swindells, via email Paul Nuttall MEP Ukip leader

SO, Theresa May is calling a General Election on June 8?

She has chosen her time well because, as things stand, Labour is in no fit state to snatch victory from her.

Jeremy Corbyn, as decent a person as he might be, is just not up to leading a Government. And a Labour defeat will surely see the end of him. Sadly, it will be too late to stop the Tories wreaking more havoc on the unfortunate majority of this country.

You have seen what this Government has done with its eternal austerity measures. Cuts that have seen even working people lose vital benefits. Cuts that have seen severely disabled people told to get work. Some who have died as a result of decisions taken by people whose only aim is to keep their own job by getting as many people off benefits as they can. They are devoid of all morals.

You have got a chance with an election to curb this Government’s rampant punishment of working class people. But will you take it? Perhaps the only good thing about a Labour defeat is that they will get someone who is more electable than Mr Corbyn. Then there just might be some hope for the future.

The museum in the Eastman Building in Brussels’ Leopold Park opened on Saturday (May 6) and will take visitors along a timeline of major historical events across the continent starting in the 19th century, through to the two world wars and a discussion of their relationship to the founding of the EU.

This vanity project – which has cost at least £44m of taxpayers’ cash – involves explaining the history of European integration, ironically at a time when the whole union is starting to unravel.

It will peddle the lie that the Europe is one state with one people whereas in fact Europe is a diverse continent of peoples, languages and cultures.

Britain has voted to leave and other countries will follow in our footsteps.

Europe can do much better than the EU’s political union, a failing institution which has produced poverty for millions in the Med, less security through Schengen on the continent and the diminution of national democracy wherever it can reach its tentacles.
