Gavin Johnson, 35, of Norton, competed as part of Turn Eight Racing in 2016.

He has made the move along with teammate Pip Hammond to run two Porsche 924s in the 2017 BRSCC Toyo Tyres Porsche Championship.

Gavin said: “We are delighted to be able to put two cars on the grid for this year and are looking forward to some great racing ahead.”

The decision was made to run two cars when Gavin met Richard Bamber of Runcorn-based Anthony’s Travel.

Richard has continued his father’s legacy with the growth of the firm.

Richard said: “As a business, we are keen to help local people and ● projects develop to their potential, we felt with Gavin and PDC we could help support that.

“We look forward to working with PDC to increase the awareness of our business and our message and to help them move forward with their championship campaign.”

Gavin is being supported by his daughter Erin, five, his father Gareth, with friends David Sheakey and Ian Gribben maintaining the car, and Esther Bruce provides supervision as team’s mechanical engineer.

The team’s season commenced on March 25 at Oulton Park, with Gavin beating the lap record before teammate Pip beat it further. the
