Key game time for all the U8s

HFH U8 v Wigan St Jude’s U8 DUE to the large squad numbers both teams had on the day it was decided to play two matches which saw all the players get increased game time.

In Game One, St Jude’s came out on top with an 11-7 victory as they displayed some excellent team tackling that stifled the Hornets’ attack.

However, there were tries for James Prescott (2) Ollie Jenkins, Cian Winstanley, Matthew Brown and Joe Bebbington.

In defence it was Matthew Brown who led the tackle count and with his tries this earned him both the man-of-thematch and top tackler accolades. Matthew Sinclair and George Sanderson who were ever present in the middle also shone.

In Game Two it was again St Jude’s that came out on top with an 11-8 victory but HFH showed some impressive play going forward with tries from Ellis Lloyd who scored four times, Kian Rose who crossed for a treble and one for Daniel Stephens who displayed some outstandin­g ball handling skills.

He set up tries for his teammates and along with a good tackling display this earned him the man-of-the-match honour.

In defence it was Kobe McKinnon who stood out as he made 15 tackles earning him the top tackler accolade.

In addition, Aaron Ward, Aiden Clarke and Cooper Di Luca all stepped up and contribute­d to a good defensive display against a well-drilled St Jude’s outfit.

HFH U7 Reds 6 Thatto H Crusaders 6 THERE were excellent performanc­es by both teams in this terrific encounter as Halton Farnworth Hornets U7 Reds shared the spoils with Thatto Heath Crusaders.

Early pressure from Thatto saw them go ahead in the contest but the Hornets fought back with tries from Charlie George with a hat-trick, Mason Rigby, Ellis Grady and Connor Farrell.

Connor also picked up the man-of-the-match award.

Top tackler went to Ellis Grady and the coaches’ honour went to Dan Pickervanc­e.
