Greens for go in big triumph

-

Burtonwood U7 20 HFH U7 Greens 48 THE Greens travelled to Burtonwood determined to make amends for a heavy defeat at the hands of Blackbrook before the Easter break – but it was Burtonwood who took the lead with two quick tries.

This seemed to shock Greens into a response with a solo try from Luke Holland followed by a Coby Scott score. Both players went on to record a hat-trick of tries.

Ryan O’Conner ended the first half with a brilliant turn of speed to touch down in the corner.

The second half saw Greens take the upper hand with some solid defensive work from Jackson Riley, Isaac O’Brian and Harry McMullen, the latter earning the top tackler accolade.

Outstanding handling skills saw further tries from Niall Dooley, Jacob Durr, Oliver Reddington and Harry McMullen.

Strong running from Coby Scott saw him earn the man-of-match award jointly with Luke Holland with the parents’ award going to Oliver Reddington.

HFH U9 Blacks 13 Leigh East Dragons 5 HFH U9 Blacks produced a confident and striking performance to well and truly dominate in their match against Leigh East Dragons.

Opening with a try on their first run, they never looked back.

They repeatedly saw out sets of six to drive forwards and return the ball over their opponents’ line time after time.

Leigh East, disciplined and talented themselves, found only a few rare openings in the strong defence, as the Hornets’ discipline and attacking strength proved a little too much to reply to.

This was a brilliant performance topped with some amazing tries, and a defensive display to be proud of.

Man-of-the-match for Hornets was Jack Mather, with the parents’ player-of-the-game honour going to Caleb Ruth. Joe Sheppard was the recipient of the coaches’ award.
