Corpy Club really Ruane Simmies’ night as they send them down

ON Friday night in the Widnes & District Darts League, the Mill Brow SC RTB League continued.

In Division One, the Corpy Club at home to Simms Cross Institute took the first game through Alan Moran, but the Stute soon levelled via Paul Batty.

The Corpy then took two in a row through Dave Pickles and opening pair Alan Moran & Dave Pickles. The Stute needing the win to stave of relegation hit back with a win from Paul Batty & Brian Abbott. But the victory was not to be for the Stute as Mike Ruane & Neil Platt and back in the singles Andy Ruane ensured the Corpy’s victory and relegation for Simms Cross Institute.

Brian Abbott took the penultimat­e game for the Stute whilst Jeff Thompson secured the final game for the Corpy adding to their already winning tally.

Halton Stadium at home to the Millfield stormed ahead, taking the first six games through Eddie Dootson (16 darts), John Kilkenny (19 darts), John Bowles (17 darts), Kenny Murphy & John Bowles (17 darts), Colin Rigby & Barry Stanners and Joe Price & Alan Clark to guarantee their triumph.

The Millfield’s Alan Sutton got his team on the scoresheet, but the Stadium were still on a roll as Joe Kelly took the penultimat­e encounter for them.

Chris Taylor gave the Millfield the final game as it finished 7-2 in the Stadium’s favour.

Widnes Bowling Club at home to the Wellington secured the first game through Tommy Robertson.

Barry Highfield then levelled for the Wellington. The Bowler rallied, bringing home the next four games through Joe Batty, A Beddows & M Smith, Scott Grady & Joe Batty (13 darts), Tex Bowles & Alex McGill (14 darts).

Ste Whitfield recovered a point for the Wellington, but Widnes Bowling Club were still in control and proceeded to take the final two games through Tex Bowles and Scott Byrne. ● Reports from matches played in Division Two on page 46.
