-

HFH U15 43 Hindley 6 STRAIGHT from the kick-off Hornets conceded a converted try to put them behind 6-0.

Hornets responded well with Connor Burgess creating a gap for Harvey McDaid to cross to make it 6-4.

After some intense pressure from Hindley, Dan Hill collected the ball in his own half and jinked up the field to put teammate Lewis Dodd on his way into the corner to make the score 8-6 to Hornets.

Five minutes later Will Smith from the scrum pushed his way over at the corner and Dodd booted over the conversion.

As half time neared, Joe Barnes stepped past three would-be defenders to score another four-pointer.

Hornets made a good start in the second period with Barnes going in at the corner.

From the return kick-off, Dodd collected the ball and chipped the defence to score another good try.

Hill created a good individual try running downfield some 70 yards.

To seal the day, some slick ball handling from Burgess put Daniel Rice on his way into the corner.

Barnes then finished with a drop goal to round off the scoring.

HFH U12 6 Rylands 34 HORNETS had their hardest game of the season against the unbeaten Rylands Sharks.

Rylands got off to a quick start going 10-0 up.

Not allowing their heads to go down, Hornets really dug in and when Peter Scott’s kick got his team into the Rylands’ 20, some good hands saw Zac Marsden in at the corner.

Man-of-the-match Peter Scott landed the touchline goal.

Then the Sharks hit back and their big forwards made it 22-6 at half time.

In the second half, Hornets played really good rugby only to be held up on the Rylands’ line.

However, the big Rylands side had the edge with three more tries.

Overall it was a good performance from the Hornets with Flynn Carney picking up the coaches’ award and George Corcoran named as top tackler.
