Pack to help crime victims know their rights
AN information pack to help victims of crime in Halton has been updated.
The new look pack now includes augmented reality which enables the booklet to come to life through video technology.
It makes information for crime victims in Runcorn and Widnes more accessible and more engaging for the reader to ensure they are fully informed.
Additionally within the videos, key areas of information have been translated into languages such as Romanian and Kurdish.
The design is intended to be easier to use for both officers when supporting victims of crime and for victims so they can access the information they need quickly and is available for all victims of crime online, as well as in booklet form.
Cheshire Police And Crime Commissioner David Keane has driven the development of the new look pack.
He said: “I have set a clear commitment that policing in Cheshire will put victims first.
“The Victim Information Pack plays a crucial role in ensuring if you are unfortunate enough to become a victim you understand your rights.
“The pack has been designed to assist Cheshire residents in finding support and services that are available to help you cope and recover from the experience of being a victim of crime and explain what will happen next following reporting.
“The addition of spoken sections and translations means that more people ● can access the information they need and the use of augmented reality brings the format into the 21st Century.”
The head of Cheshire police’s criminal justice department, Jon Betts ,added: “The Victim Information Pack is an excellent tool for helping victims understand the process and help direct them to the specialist help and support if they need it.
