How Andy’s going out with a bang
RUNCORN wrestler Andy Baker is set for his last match when he teams with grappling great Dr Tom Pritchard at RWA: Heart and Soul.
The 36-year-old, aka Andreas Rossi, was a student of Pritchard when he competed in WWE developmental territory Ohio Valley Wrestling.
Andy opened communityfocused wrestling training schools in Runcorn and Winsford after returning from a spell in Kentucky in 2005.
Now Dr Tom is set to appear at an Runcorn Wrestling Academy (RWA) show on Saturday, while also passing on his knowledge to new talents during a two-day seminar.
Andy said: “After much deliberation, I have decided that this will be my last match for the foreseeable future in an RWA ring.
“After 17 years learning/honing my craft, the performance side for me has become less enjoyable, as well as certain aspects of the business.
“I see this opportunity tagging with Dr Tom Prichard, a friend and a mentor for many years, as a great way to take that step back and finally concentrate fully on creating ‘tomorrow’s stars today’.
“Will it be a final ever appearance? Who knows? But for now the boots will be getting hung up!”
Doors will open at 6.30pm with first bell at 7pm.
Tickets are priced £6 for adults and £4 for children and OAPs, with a family ticket for two adults and two children costing £15.
