Donation in the name of Gloria

-

A DONATION has been made to a Halton charity which helps those whose lives have been affected by cancer in memory of a woman who had been a member of a support group.

The friends and family of Gloria Lightfoot presented a cheque worth £1,188.77 to Widnes And Runcorn Cancer Support Group, also known as The Centre.

Gloria had been an active and much loved member of The Centre’s HUGS support group and is missed by the many friends she made within the group.

The donation was made on what would have been Gloria’s birthday by her granddaughter Tara Fraser, daughters Karren Fraser-Knight and Susan Lightfoot-Isherwood, ● and family friends Cheryl Cannon and Lynne Appleton.

The money was raised by members of the Zumba Divas exercise class which is run by Tara’s company, Diva Fit UK. The Zumba Divas took part in a three hour sponsored Zumbathon and collected donations from their family and friends along with businesses.

The Centre’s operations manager Nicola Donoghue said: “Gloria was a real character, she lit up any room as she entered it.

“She faced even the toughest trials of her illness with courage and humour and is missed by all of us.

“We do appreciate the generosity of her friends and family in making this fantastic donation to The Centre.

“As a registered charity we rely on donations from the general public to allow us to provide the services we do to support local people touched by cancer.”
