AW IDNES account a n c y firm has added a not-for-profit organisation to its client base.

Mitchell Charlesworth has successfully tendered for the audit, accounts and specialist advisory work of Stockport-based training provider Pure Innovations.

The firm will be delivering a broad range of services for the organisation, which specialises in training and support for people with disabilities.

Mitchell Charlesworth partner Paul Booth said the contract will involve specialist VAT support and strategic planning advice.

It adds to the firm’s growing list of not-forprofit clients, now in excess of 120.

Mr Booth said: “Pure Innovations is a diverse organisation offering a broad range of firstclass services for people with disabilities.

“Their structure incorporates the main Pure Innovations charity in Stockport, a second subsidiary charity, Pure Insight, and a further two community interest companies that are also subsidiaries – Salvere, based in Preston and Balance, based in Surbiton.

“Mitchell Charlesworth won the account on a competitive tender basis.

“A key part of this contract will involve the management of audit and accounts, as well as ad hoc advisory and consultancy services linking into Pure Innovations’ future plans and developments.

“For organisations like Pure Innovations who have a range of income streams, it can become complicated from a VAT perspective. We started advising the organisation almost immediately upon appointment on their VAT position.”

Pure Innovations has more than 20 years’ experience delivering services to people with ranging disabilities. Its services include training, care and support, and health and wellbeing advice.

It became an independent charity following a TUPE transfer from Stockport Council in 2005, enabling it to offer services and expertise to other local authorities.

Mr Booth said Mitchell Charlesworth has a strong track record and reputation in the charity and not-for-profit sector which remains a key target market for the firm.

He added: “The notfor-profit sector represents a large proportion of our overall work.

“Our success in this market is due to a combination of factors, one of which being the combined skills and experience of several of our senior partners across the practice who have worked in the sector for a long time.

“Additionally, smaller accountancy practices simply don’t have the level of technical knowledge and expertise, or offer the same range of advisory services as Mitchell Charlesworth, which the sector increasingly demands.

“Two such crucial services include strategic planning and reorganisation advice, particularly around new sources of income and trading.

“Furthermore, VAT is a massive issue for the sector.

“Our specialists across offices guarantee in-depth support in each of these specific areas.” ●
