Widnes’s work earns renewal of RFU title

WHILST the players enjoy a well earned rest from the hustle and bustle of rugby on the field, there was some good news off the pitch for Widnes RUFC, as they received confirmation of the renewal of their Rugby Football Union Accreditation.
The RFU recognises that club rugby lies at the heart of the sport in England.
It is where the game is played in huge numbers and it is the environment that the RFU Development Department is committed to supporting by ‘strengthening clubs and growing the game in the communities around them’.
Part of this commitment is the Club Accreditation scheme which is designed to allow clubs to exhibit all that is good about rugby in their adult sections, mini and youth, women and girls and touch rugby, while demonstrating that this is all achieved in a friendly, welcoming environment.
The scheme is based upon six Key Drivers identified as crucial to a strong club:
Retaining & Developing Players; Recruiting New Players; Recruiting & Retaining High Quality Coaches; Volunteers & Referees; Effective & Efficient Facilities; Effective & Efficient Management and Governance Integration with the Local Community
Widnes RUFC is delighted to have maintained this independent recognition of the club’s continuing development in these key areas.
Thrilled Widnes club president, Paul Newall, said: “We are delighted that Widnes RUFC has received renewal of their RFU Accreditation.
“We are a shining example of how successful a community club can be by laying strong foundations from the bottom up from the minis and juniors right through to the senior teams.”
He continued: “So many of our senior players have come up through the ranks, and this Accreditation is down to the very hard work of junior chairman, Sharon Miller and her ever-willing band of highly-qualified coaches and volunteers, all of which is underpinned with the support of parents.”
