Chester to give a test to Town

-

AFTER a very successful campaign under new manager Chris Herbert, Runcorn Town have been busy making plans for their pre-season fixtures ahead of the 2017-18 Hallmark Security League Premier Division schedule.

The club’s pre-season kicks-off at Blacon Youth FC on Saturday, July 8. Kick-off will be at 12pm.

The Chester-based side played in the West Cheshire League from 1981 with much of that in the top division. ●

They made the decision ahead of last season to switch to the Chester & Wirral League and they have performed admirably there.

Meanwhile, Vanarama National League outfit Chester FC will visit Pavilions for their opening pre-season game on the evening of Monday, July 10.

In what was a difficult season just gone, Chester finished just above the drop zone in the top tier of non-League football and will be looking for a stronger campaign in 2017-18.

The game could see a return to Pavilions for Kieran Evans who spent the latter third of the season on loan at Town and returned to his parent club at the end of the season. Kick-off will be 7.30pm. ● Runcorn Town’s Annual General Meeting will take place in the club’s lounge at Pavilions on Saturday, June 3 commencing at 12pm. ● Every Saturday during the close season the club have a working party at the ground, where everyone is welcome to help tidy and improve the ground ready for next season. A range of things need to be done from general tidying and painting to helping install fence panels. The work party is every Saturday during from 1pm and Town’s committee would very much appreciate your help. For further information call 07894-034985.
