Pacesettin­g Pavilions do bring their ‘A’ game to roll past Helsby ‘C’

SECTION One leaders in the Runcorn & District Bowling Associatio­n, Pavilions ‘A’, continued with their fine form with a superb 167-95 victory against Murphy Cup quarterfin­alist opponents Helsby ‘C’.

No fewer than three players won to single figures – Alan Richards (21-5), Alan Briscoe (21-6) and captain Neal Ocego (21-8). The only reply for Helsby came via Rose Walker’s 21-20 win.

Grapes ‘A’ visited Egerton Memorial and came away with a 144-133 victory.

Les Harrington (21-6) and Ron Dwyer (21-9) led the way for Grapes. Maurice Hambleton’s 21-10 was the best reply for Egerton.

Norton Arms ‘A’ are third, this after a 146-100 win over Helsby ‘A’. Leading the way for the Arms were Mark Hughes (21-6), Colin Jackson (21-7) and Gareth Dimelow (21- 9). The best reply for Helsby came from John Salisbury (21-8).

Legion ‘A’ took on struggling Kingsley ‘A’ and ran out the winners 157-104. Ashley Graham’s 21-9 was the best win on the night.

Section Two is still close with just 17 points separating the top three.

Top of the section are Pavilions ‘B’, this after a fantastic 167-100 triumph at Helsby ‘D’. Leading the way for the Lions were Stephen Bate (21-3), Peter White and captain Mick Ainsworth (both 21-9).

The only reply for Helsby came via Margaret Keating’s 21-20 win.

Second-placed Subscripti­on took on Kingswood ‘B’ and ran out the winners 137-131 in a tight encounter.

Bill Mack’s 21-3 success was the best win on the night.

Last week’s leaders, Overton, dropped to third place after a 143-126 loss at Kingsley ‘B’.

Peter Smith (21-8) led the way for Kingsley. Replying for Overton was Mark Clein, also 21-8.

Pavilions ‘D’ continue to struggle at the foot of the table, this after a 137-125 loss against War Memorial.

The best wins on the night were recorded by Peter Dumbill (21-5) and Alan Isaac (21-6). ● Section Three on page 51.
