DEREK Twigg has given his pitch as he bids for another term as Labour MP for Halton.

Mr Twigg said he has a ‘proven track record’ having served as an MP for 20 years and pledged to ‘put Halton first’.

He vowed to support the Armed Forces and proper funding for the security services.

Mr Twigg also slated the Tories over a ‘crisis’ in the NHS and schools funding cuts and job losses and said he will fight to protect those services and that Halton children deserve a ‘first class education’.

Born and bred in Widnes, where he still lives, the former Bankfield School pupil said he also worked in Runcorn and as such he knows the area and ‘wants the best’ for it.
