Helping senior unemployed

-

UNEMPLOYED residents aged 50 and above are being invited to take part in a Widnes Vikings project designed to improve their health and boost job prospects.

Over the course of 12 weeks, participants on Senior Pro will be given an incredible range of experiences.

It will include gaining an accredited employability certificate and developing IT skills, to taking part fun exercise classes, such as walking rugby or yoga.

Participants will have their own mentor who will support them to achieve their own personal objectives.

These could involve finding alcohol support, receiving debt advice or gaining work experience.

Support to find employment will also be offered through accessing a job club.

The daytime course runs three days a week at the Select Security Stadium.

Widnes Vikings education partnerships manager Dan Scott said: “We’ve had fantastic feedback on this course from participants.

“Senior Pro is fun, accessible and really helps to enhance employability skills. Please get in touch if you think that this course can help you!”
