New face on board at Linnets

-

LEE CHESTERSON has been co-opted by the Trust Board of Runcorn Linnets to fill one of two remaining vacancies created by the recent resignations of three long-serving members.

He will head up the fundraising group at Linnets after a spell as a club volunteer.

He joins Tracy Ryder, who was co-opted at the back end of the season just finished and will continue as assistant club secretary, working alongside new club secretary, Steve Dale.

A delighted Mr Chesterson said: “As a lifelong Runcorn fan I’m proud to be co-opted onto the Trust Board and can’t wait to get more actively involved, especially with the exciting ‘buzz’ there is at the club presently.

“It’s important to keep the feeling going through the close season and look forward to next season.”

The pair of co-options cover the period up to the club’s annual general meeting scheduled to be held in December.

Meanwhile, there have been some changes to the dates of the club’s intitial pre-season schedule with Colne now visiting the Millbank Linnets Stadium on Saturday, July 29.

This means Runcorn’s visit to Middlewich Town will now take place a week earlier on Saturday, July 22.

More pre-season warm-up games are set to be announced soon.

For now, Linnets’ pre-season schedule is as follows: ● Saturday, July 15: Witton Albion (H), 3pm. ● Tuesday, July 18: Marine (H), 7.30pm. ● Saturday, July 22: Middlewich Town (A), 3pm. ● Saturday, July 29: Colne (H), 3pm.
