U7s battle but cannot stop Clock

HFH U7 Greens 8 Clock Face U7 24 HALTON Farnworth Hornets U7 Greens entertaine­d Clock Face.

It was the visitors who were first on the scoresheet with a couple of early tries before Hornets responded with a strong run to the line from Isaac O’Brian.

Both teams showed some strong running but it was Clock Face who increased their lead with two more tries before half-time.

The second half saw some powerful running from Niall Dooley earning him the Greens’ second try of the game and a well-deserved coaches’ award.

Strong defensive work from Jackson Riley, Isaac O’Brian and Harry McMullen held out the visitors with top tackler award going to Oliver Reddington and Luke Holland earning the man-of-the-match award.

Isaac O’Brian collected the parents’ award.

This was a hard encounter with superior line speed proving to be the deciding factor in the visitors’ favour. Crosfields U8 12

HFH U8 4 IN a difficult encounter at Crosfields it was the home team who ran away with the match in the second two quarters of the contest.

In attack there was some strong running from the Hornets’ Daniel Stephens, Ellis Lloyd, Euan McPherson and Mathew Sinclair against what was a toughtackl­ing Crosfields outfit.

However, it was James Prescott with two tries and Cian Winstanley who also crossed the whitewash twice who managed to break down the Crosfields’ defence.

In defence for Hornets all the players seemed to up their game this week but as the contest went on injuries took their toll on the players.

Neverthele­ss, there were solid displays from Ollie Jenkins, Aaron Ward, James Prescott and Cian Winstanley with the latter taking the man-of-the-match accolade.

Mathew Sinclair received the coaches’ award and Aaron Ward was the top tackler.
