Widnes’s promotion confirmed

THE Football Associatio­n has released provisiona­l placings for all clubs in steps five to six following the conclusion of league campaigns and play-offs for the 2016-17 season.

Widnes FC’s place in the Hallmark Security League Premier Division has been confirmed following the club’s memorable title-winning campaign this past season under manager Joey Dunn. ●

Joining Widnes in the Premier Division are Charnock Richard and City of Liverpool FC, who were both promoted to the Premier Division automatica­lly and through the playoffs respective­ly.

Atherton Collieries were promoted to the Evo-Stik League Division One North with Burscough relegated into the Hallmark Security League Premier Division.

Northwich Victoria have also been provisiona­lly placed in the Hallmark Security League Premier Division following their relegation from the Northern Premier League Division One South.

Elsewhere in the Hallmark Security League, Cammell Laird 1907, New Mills and Nelson have been placed in the First Division following relegation from the Premier Division.

Abbey Hulton United have been promoted to the First Division from the Staffordsh­ire County Senior League, with Ashton Town’s relegation to the Cheshire League being confirmed.

Eccleshall have been granted a reprieve from relegation.
