Fundraising for Phil

-

A FUNDRAISER for a Runcorn scaffolder seriously injured in the Manchester terror attack is taking place this Saturday.

Phil Hassall had to undergo brain surgery last month after being caught up in the blast.

Bridgewater Bar And Function Room on Canal Street is holding a ‘Support For Phil’ night of entertainment this Saturday, doors open 7pm until late, to raise cash to help Phil while he is unable to work.

It has also received a boost in the form of a signed DVD and four upcoming show tickets donated by Runcorn comedian John Bishop.

Tickets are £15 including food.

A raffle and music from DJs will be among the entertainments on offer.

Tickets are available from behind the bar.

Mr Hassall, believed to be in his late 30s, suffered serious head and leg injuries and in the immediate aftermath was placed in a coma for surgeons to operate including removing shrapnel.

A Just Giving page set up by fellow scaffolder Ian Bland has already raised nearly £11,000 to help Phil and his family during his recovery and cushion the blow of any loss of earnings while he cannot work.

Donations are still coming through with wellwishers showing their support on the ● page.

Twenty-two victims were killed in the blast on May 22 at the Ariana Grande concert in Manchester.

In addition, there were 60 walking wounded and 59 casualties who needed to go to hospital for treatment, many of them seriously injured.
