Man robbed near pub

● A SUSPECT has been interviewe­d under caution after a mugging in Runcorn in which the victim was punched and headbutted.

A Cheshire Constabula­ry spokesman said officers were called to reports of a robbery near The Butts in Castlefiel­ds at 7.20pm on Sunday, June 18.

The victim, 24, had been walking through the area when an unknown bare-chested thug riding a bike ambushed and attacked him.

The robber is then alleged to have stolen his black iPhone 7, a blue mountain bike and about £40 cash.

Although left shaken, the man did not suffer any injuries.

Chief Inspector Sarah Heath said the mugger went through the victim’s pockets and the incident happened near the Fiddlers Three pub on Pendennis Court.

The spokesman said: “The suspect was described as a white man, early 30s, of stocky build with strawberry blond shaved hair or bald.

“The man had a Liverpool accent, he was wearing a grey shorts and was bare chested.

“He also head a grey bike with red spokes.

“As part of ongoing investigat­ion a 35-year-old local man voluntaril­y attended Runcorn Police Station on July 7 where he was interviewe­d under police caution in relation to the incident.

“Anyone with any informatio­n in relation to the incident is asked to contact Cheshire police on 101 quoting incident number 925 of June 18. Informatio­n can also be passed anonymousl­y to Crimestopp­ers on 0800 555 111.”

Ch Insp Heath said: “Somebody has been interviewe­d about it.

“There’s a suspect but it’s an ongoing investigat­ion.”
