Simmies successful at Miners

Leigh Miners ‘A’ 16 Halton Simms Cross 30 SIMMIES returned home from Leigh with a well-deserved win, once again built on a fine first half performanc­e.

The visitors were first on the scoresheet with a try created by Owen Bebbington and finished off near the sticks by Keiron Kavanagh.

Jack White then added the extra points.

Leigh Miners hit back when Cooke forced his way over wide out.

Simmies came back strongly as Conor Henry and White combined to send Danny Price racing through to score. White added the conversion.

Simmies once again played some delightful rugby and Shaun McDermott finished off a fine move to score a try under the posts. White once more tacked on the conversion to make it 18-4 at the break.

Leigh Miners started the second half well and Rowe scored a good try which Roberts converted.

Simmies replied straight away, though, with a try from Henry which White converted.

Once more, though, Leigh hit back when prop-forward Wilson barged his way over for a try which Roberts converted.

Simmies finished off with a well-taken try from Price. White landed the conversion to make it five kicks from five.

The Riverside Reclaim Timber man-of-thematch was won by Owen Bebbington with Danny Price second and Conor Henry third.
