Delight for Mill Brow and Welly

-

ON Monday night in the Widnes & District Darts League, the Tommy Magee Cup (Top & Bottom Halves) were played at Widnes Bowling Club.

In the Bottom Half, Widnes RUFC took on the Mill Brow SC.

It was a good night for the Brow, as they proceeded to take the first six games through Brian Spruce, Dave Powell and Chris Bright in the singles. The pairs followed with wins recorded by Dave Powell & Neil Platt, Tommy Owens & Chris Bright and Kev Helps & Brian Spruce.

A win from the Wids’ Paul Murty stopped the Brow temporarily, but then Tommy Owens and Eric Peel took the remaining two games to seal a comprehensive 8-1 triumph.

In the Top Half, Widnes Bowling Club locked horns with the Wellington.

Terry Roach (11 darts) took the first game for the Wellington. Tex Bowles then levelled for the Bowler.

The Wellington then powered on taking three in a row through John Lewis and pairs Karl Whitfield & Anthony Hall and James Holden & Lol Fonterigo.

The Bowler were still in with a chance as Mark Smith & Alex McGill took the next game.

However, the Wellington were quick off the mark as Karl Whitfield (17 darts & 180) gave them the vital fifth point securing the title.

Tommy Robertson claimed the penultimate contest for the Bowler whilst the Wellington’s John Glover (180) took the final game wrapping up a 6-3 success.
