Forensic link to crimes sees man jailed

-

● A BURGLAR from Liverpool has been jailed for 32 months after forensic evidence linked him to the scene of a crime in Runcorn.

Detective Sergeant Rob McLoughlin said Michael Anthony Clark, 39, of Thurnham Street, Anfield appeared at Chester Crown Court on Monday.

Clark was arrested on Sunday, June 18, after an offence on Stratton Close in Brookvale.

The occupant disturbed Clark as he was trying to force entry, causing damage to a rear door.

Following his arrest, Clark was charged and remanded into custody until his court appearance.

He was sentenced to 32 months in prison and ordered to pay a £170 victim surcharge.

DS McLoughlin said: “Burglary is a very emotive and intrusive crime which can have long standing and emotional impact on victims.

“The sentence imposed by the courts reflects the serious nature of this crime.

“Clark has no direct links to Runcorn and we believe that he travelled to the area with the sole intention of committing crime.

“We will not tolerate such behaviour in the community and will continue to take positive actions against offenders.

“Anyone with information about burglary or suspicious activity in their area can call the police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.” ●
