VAN TORCHED

FIREFIGHTERS believe arsonists torched a transit van in Runcorn.

The vehicle was reported ablaze at 11.47pm on Saturday, July 15.

A Cheshire Fire And Rescue Service (CFRS) spokeswoman said the van was next to a garage door at a property on The Tithings in Halton Brook.

Crews found it ‘well alight’ on arrival.

The spokeswoman said; “Firefighters, one wearing a breathing apparatus, used a hose reel jet to extinguish the fire.

“The crews then checked the adjacent garage for any signs of fire using a thermal imaging camera.

“The fire was believed to have been started deliberately.
