PLASTIC BLAZE PLUME
A blaze involving plastic sent black smoke billowing into the air.
The incident was reported at 9.40pm on Cholmondely Road near the Clifton roundabout.
Cheshire Fire And Rescue Service (CFRS) said crews discovered a large amount of rubbish ablaze on wasteland involving 100m by 100m of plastic ducting.
Firefighters used five reel and main hose jets to extinguish the fire.
A CFRS spokeswoman said teams were at the scene for about one hour and 20 minutes.
The service said the materials being burned were not toxic and the hazardous substances team was not needed.
Liverpool John Lennon Airport and Highways England were alerted because of the large amount of smoke.
