“At this stage it was still just a dream to start our own microbrewe­ry, but in 2014 we decided to go for it and converted the shed to a brewery, all the family has been involved in various elements of the start-up.

“Daniel, having commitment­s elsewhere, had taught Michelle how to brew, and use the 1.2 barrel (US barrel) system, she in turn has been teaching her sister Geraldine to brew.

Norton Brewing produces its threebeer range at Norton Priory Museum And Gardens in Runcorn. ●

The beers are produced for bottle, cask and mini-keg.

On offer are amber ale Priory Gold, golden ale with a hint of orange Priory Ale and dark ruby chocolate malt ale Priory Velvet.

Norton Brewing also sells at produce, farmers and craft markets and is looking to sell at its own shop in Widnes.

The brewery is also looking to hold ‘landlords days’ to promote and market the beers in the area.

It has also landed a coup in that it will be supplying Priory Ale to the Strangers Bar at the House Of Commons.

Norton Brewing also provides opportunit­ies for residents with learning difficulti­es or disabiliti­es to brew beer in conjunctio­n with Halton Community Services.
