Hornets’ U13s put on a complete performance to keep Heath out

-

HFH U13 16 Thatto Heath U13 0 HALTON Farnworth Hornets’ U13s played their last league game of the season at home to Thatto Heath.

Although already guaranteed runners-up spot in the division, Hornets were determined to finish the season in style – and they did just that with a dominant performance from start to finish.

The platform for the win was laid by the hard-working George Delaney, Nathan Bannerman and Adam Holroyd, who gave Adam Jack, Ben Lane and Aiden Doolan the field position to organise the team and put some good attacking plays on.

After going close to crossing on a couple of occasions, the ball was moved quickly out to Sam Haynes who finished well in the corner. Charlie Glover converted from the touchline.

Soon after, Aiden spotted a gap close to the line to score and Lewis Hughes tacked on the extras to make it 12-0 at half-time.

The second half was very stop-start and this disrupted Hornets’ fast attacking style of rugby, but highlighted their strong defence to keep Thatto out despite defending a few back-to-back sets.

A lovely passing move finished with Ben putting Harry Keeley into space and the defence could not get near him, as he scored out wide to make it 16-0 and finish a very complete performance from the lads. HFH U9 Greens 11 Leigh Miners U9 3 THE Greens secured a great win victory over their counterparts from Leigh Miners.

Halton scored tries through Jack Campbell, Evan Milne and Connor Simons who each crossed for braces, a hat-trick for Lewis Lunt and single efforts from Ollie Reeves and George McKeown.

Nathan Percival was named man-of-the-match with top tackler Thomas Krause and coaches’ award winner going to Connor Simons.
