Dance troupe wows crowd at Grand Prix
DANCERS from Widnes showcased their talents at last month’s British Grand Prix held at Silver- stone.
Children aged between nine and 16 from Eclipse Street Dance Cheer in Widnes were part of 600 talented dancers from 13 different schools across the UK with Pro-Excel.
They danced to classic Ibiza anthems from the 90s in the biggest mass-movement dance production ever created at one of the most watched sporting events in the world with more than 100,000 race fans attending and broadcast live.
Head coach and choreographer Emma Swain said: “It was an amazing day it was incredible to dance in a major sporting event such as this, the team danced their socks off and we created some fantastic memories for the team.”
Team captain Charlotte Hawley said: “Dancing at the Grand Prix was unbelievable, we loved it and the team absolutely nailed the dances.”
On Saturday, August 19, dancers from the team will be attending a workshop with Jason Pennycook, a talented choreographer who is famous for performances in musicals in the West End.
Meanwhile on Monday, August 28, the younger members of the team will be dancing on the main stage at the Chance To Dance festival in Solihull alongside the amazing Diversity.
Eclipse are currently seeking dancers to add to the squad. The team have their own premises on Victoria Road and practice four times a week. The first week is a free of charge taster. Eclipse are the official cheerleaders for Halton Spartans, Widnes Wild and Widnes FC, and are sponsored by Halton Housing Trust and Rowlands Pharmacy.
