Eight join training scheme
● EIGHT people are on a path to achieving their dreams after signing up to Widnes Vikings’ employability training programme.
Those supported at St Michaels And Gordon House services in Liverpool are taking part in the initiative with the Vikings, which supports people to gain the core skills for work.
It is the latest development in the Vikings’ ever-successful partnership with Community Integrated Care, which has been recognised at the 3rd Sector Care Awards.
Founded in Widnes, Community Integrated Care is one of Britain’s biggest charities and supports thousands of people who have learning disabilities, mental health concerns, autism and dementia.
To celebrate their success on the course, the group were invited to the Vikings’ last regular season home game against Wakefield Trinity last month.
They were presented with certificates of achievement at half-time by first team stars Patrick Ah Van and MacGraff Leuluai.
Vikings commercial and community director Richard Munson said: “It was brilliant to see how proud the group were when they went pitchside for their presentation. “By taking part in the course, people supported by the charity have been able to fine-tune and develop their skills. We hope that this programme makes a big difference to all the participants.”
