Andrew ‘excited’ to be back in Brindley role

A MULTI-TALENTED actor and director from Halton has joined the glittering cast of this year’s Brindley panto.

Andrew Curphey returns will return to the theatre having played Dandini in last year’s production of Cinderella.

This winter he will be transforme­d into Chester The Jester in Sleeping Beauty, running from December 11 to January 14 at the awardwinni­ng arts venue.

Having worked extensivel­y delivering theatre workshops and performing for more than 15 years, Widnes thespian Andrew said he was delighted to be returning.

Over the past nine years the former Bankfield and Cronton Sixth Form College pupil has created and continues to manage and direct the Andrew Curphey Theatre Company with more than 200 children and young people enrolled across evening and weekend classes.

Each year the company performs three production­s at The Brindley Theatre.

Andrew also regularly performs his one man show A Mic, Music And Me at The Brindley featuring song, chat and plenty of humour, as well as fulfilling the duties as a heat judge in Halton’s Got Talent.

He said: “I am so excited and thrilled to be returning to The Brindley.

“I enjoyed panto so much last year and it’s great to be back.

“I am grateful to Polka Dot and Halton Borough Council for giving me the chance and I can promise the audience will love the show.”

Cllr Phil Harris (arts) said: “We are very pleased to announce a local actor for this prominent role. “It shows what talent we have here in Halton.”

Other cast members include Christophe­r Pym as Prince Harry, Rebecca Lake in the role of Princess Aurora, and Crissy Rock as Fairy Nuff.

Tickets are children £16, adults £22, family ticket £66 for two adults and two children, groups of 20 plus £17 each, schools £11 with one teacher per 15 pupils going free with no booking fee. There is a British Sign Language Performanc­e on Friday, December 29, at 5pm and a relaxed performanc­e on Sunday, January 7, at 1pm.
