RUNCORN-BASED software developer d3t Ltd has been named a winner of the GameIndustry.biz Best Places To Work Awards 2017.

The firm picked up its gong in recognition of its top working practices.

GamesIndustry described d3t and the other winners as ‘special’ places to work.

D3t told the gaming news publishing that some of the key features of keeping staff happy were the variety of projects they work on, plus atmosphere, team events, refreshments and also their pensions and medical insurance.

Judges reviewed company benefits, training, diversity, management, company culture, overtime, pay and diversity as part of the assessment process.

Staff at d3t were then invited to independently rate their employer against a range of criteria, with their feedback making up the bulk of the final score.

The 12 GamesIndustry winners all received a score of 85% or above.

Richard Badger, d3t general manager, collected the ‘ Best Places To Work’ badge during a presentation at the national gaming expo EGX 2017 in Birmingham.

D3t Ltd develops premium software for clients across the globe in the games and interac- ● tive sectors and has worked on blockbuster titles including The Witcher 3 – regarded by many as the best video game role playing game ever, and Micro Machines World Series.

A d3t spokeswoman said the company has pioneered ‘working for hire’ within the gaming industry which means the firm works alongside household names to develop their software using cutting edge technology.

He said: “We have worked hard to recruit and retain a fantastic team at d3t and this award demonstrates that we’re getting it right.

“The games industry has traditionally always been perceived as an industry fraught with redundancy, cyclical employment and poor working conditions.

“We have always resolved to buck that trend and offer our team a secure, creative environment, so to be recognised as one of the industry’s best places to work is a fantastic endorsement.

“And to be at the forefront of challenging those industry perceptions is incredibly rewarding. ● “But there’s no room for complacency, we will continue to look for ways to make d3t an even better place to work.”
