Take time out for an Interval
ART lovers have the chance to meet the artists behind an exhibition running at The Brindley in Runcorn this autumn.
Markmakers collective launched its Interval exhibition on October 2 and has invited residents to find out first hand about the ideas behind their creations.
The meet-the-artists session is on from noon-1pm on Saturday, October 7.
The Interval exhibition is due to run until November 25 and is based on ideas such as asking what is an interval and does anything of interest happen there as well as what intervals are there in life and what happens in the wider world when one occurs.
A spokeswoman for the collective said the answers have been now been formed in art.
Markmakers artists have exhibited regionally, nationally and internationally and have been involved in national touring exhibitions and international residencies.
The spokeswoman said the group has made a name for itself by running interesting and thoughtful exhibitions supported by curators from across the country.
Now the group has returned to home turf to present its work to visitors from beyond Halton and is hoping to give residents the chance to pause busy every day life for a moment and spend some quiet time with thoughtful art.
Jane Chapman, Markmakers artist, said: “Taking a word as a brief was a challenge at first but as we started to do our own research, hear others thoughts and see others work evolving the idea of an interval became more and more inspiring and intriguing.”
Louise Hesketh, Curious Minds curator and manager, said: “I’ve followed the group for several years.
“These exhibitions always reflect the great wealth of talent within the Markmakers collective.
“Artists from the group have become internationally recognised but still provide inspiration for their local Halton community.
“When they turn up on your doorstep they are well worth a visit.”
The Brindley art gallery is open Monday to Friday, 10am-5pm, and Saturday 10am until 2pm. ●
