Mill Brow inflict hammering on Hammer & Pincers

ON Monday evening in the Widnes & District Darts League, the Widnes Bowling Club 501 League continued.

The Goldmine at home to Simms Cross Institute had a good start as they took the first two games as both Karl Windisch and Chris Hough (19 darts) were victorious.

The Stute came back to level with wins from Keith Glover and opening pair, Andy Abbott & Paul Batty.

The Goldmine took the lead again with three in a row from Karl Windisch & Chris Hough, Gary Johnson & Phil Corless and Josh Bury (16 darts) securing their match success.

With the result already in the bag for the Goldmine, it was no consolatio­n for the Stute as Brian Abbott and then Glynn Owen (14 darts) won the final contests.

Halton Stadium at home to the Millfield claimed the first two games through Alan Magee (19 darts) and Eddie Dootson.

Alan Sutton then put the Millfield on to the scoresheet.

But that was as good as it got for them as the Stadium surged ahead, taking the remaining six games and the match through Alan Magee & Joe Kelly (18 darts), John Bowles & Kenny Murphy and Eddie Dootson & Kevin Garcia in the pairs.

This was backed up by Colin Rigby, Joe Price and Kevin Garcia (16 and 14 darts) in the singles.

Included in the match were four 180s from Eddie Dootson, John Bowles, Mike Howard and Kevin Garcia.

The Hammer & Pincers at home to the Mill Brow SC endured a tough night as the Mill Brow SC took all nine games.

Jack Dunn, Dean Birks and Neil Platt began the rout in the singles followed by Brian Spruce & Dave Stevenson, Don McLorrie & Dave Powell and Dean Birks & Jack Dunn in the pairs before Don McLorrie, Dave Stevenson and Dave Powell back in the singles completed a 9-0 whitewash.

The Wellington at home to Widnes Bowling Club conceded the first three games to the Bowler’s Scott Byrne (18 darts), Andy Beddows and Alex McGill (19 darts).

The Wellington’s opening pair took the next game through Ste Whitfield & John Barber including 17 darts and a 110 checkout).

The Bowler then stormed ahead, taking the remaining five games and the match as Scott Grady & Joe Batty (18 and 19 darts), Scott Byrne & Alex McGill, Joe Batty (180 and a 120 checkout, Scott Grady (18 darts) and Dave Pickles were all victorious on the oche.
