Bedford is the hero for Hough Green as he steps up to claim decider

ON Friday evening in the Widnes & District Darts League, the Mill Brow SC RTB League continued.

In Division Two, Hough Green SC at home to the Corpy Club conceded the first game to the Corpy’s Alan Moran. Hough Green then levelled through Keith Glover.

A further two wins from Paul Woods and opening pair, Paul Woods & Tony Barker gave Hough Green a healthy lead.

Their advantage was not to last, however, as the Corpy’s Dave Cowan & Alan Moran and Jeff Thompson & Alan Pennington restored parity.

Ray McIntosh put Hough Green ahead again, but the Corpy were right on their tails as Jeff Thompson made the score 4-4.

The outcome was resolved as Wayne Bedford took the final game and the match for the Hough Green SC.

The Main Top at home to the Birchfield saw Keith Allen take the first game for the Birchfield.

The Top then levelled through Anthony Woodward (15 darts).

Then came four in a row from Dave Jones, Dave Herley & Keith Allen, Paul Smith & Alan Rigby and Trevor Chadwick & Dave Jones to guarantee their match success.

The Top’s Sharon Unsworth and Callum Taylor (17 darts) took the next two games, whilst Alan Rigby won the final game wrapping up a 6-3 victory for Birchfield.

The Majors Arms at home to the Mersey Hotel took the first game through Darren Attwood.

The Mersey then levelled through Ray Cowley before going ahead via Paul Cotty.

The Majors then levelled through their opening pair, Luke Carey & Nicky Duff.

The Mersey rallied, taking the next three games through Rob Cotty & Paul Cotty (18 darts), Ray Cowley & Dave Cotty and Rob Cotty securing their match victory.

The Majors’ Kev Grice and Kieran Sprung took the final two games, but the Mersey Hotel took the match.
