A perfect season for the Bears
W Bank Bears U10 46 Saddleworth Rangers 4 THE talented West Bank Bears U10s ended their 2017 season fixtures with an emphatic victory against Saddleworth Rangers by a final score of 46-4.
The young Widnesians were scintillating and scored some superb tries against opposition who were nowhere near as poor as the final scoreline suggests.
The Bears went into the game with a 21-match winning streak and knowing that victory would give them a perfect 22 wins from 22 games, so they were focused right from the kick-off.
The game was over as a contest by half-time, with the home side 28-0 up on the scoreboard and the opposition counting down the minutes to full-time.
The West Bank boys hit the Rangers with everything they had in a faultness first half in which the away side barely made a yard going forward, such was the determination in the Bears’ watertight defence.
The second half gave the Bears the opportunity and breathing space to play some flamboyant rugby which yet again had the Saddleworth players on the backfoot throughout.
The final score of 46-4 was richly deserved for the team performance on the day and also for the superb season that each of the players have played their part in.
What was even more pleasing, and has been evident in the majority of games this season, is that the talented young Widnes boys have plenty more gears to go up, which makes the 2018 campaign an exciting prospect already.
