DETECTIVES are hunting two youths after a man was robbed of his shopping plus £200 and his mobile phone in Runcorn.

Cheshire police said the 59-year-old victim was walking along The Hove in Murdishaw at 10.30pm on Tuesday, October 3, when two boys approached and demanded his trolley.

The first mugger grabbed it and broke the handle.

They both then took hold of the trolley and made off along The Hove leaving a trail of food shopping. The victim gave chase as the youths fled across the busway and onto the pathway leading to Compass Close.

A Cheshire police spokeswoman said the first boy was described as tall and slim.

He was wearing dark clothes including a ● black Northface jacket with the hood up and the drawstrings pulled tight.

The second boy was smaller and chubbier than the first and dressed the same.

DC Nathanial Walkowiak said: “Not only was the victim left shocked by his ordeal but he had around £200 in cash and a new mobile phone which was an 02 ZTE A110 in the shopping trolley at the time it was stolen.

“I would urge anyone with information to contact me so we can find those responsible.”
