● STAFF and stu­dents at a Run­corn high school have wel­comed the area’s Labour MP for a tour.

Mike Ames­bury, MP for Weaver Vale, met pupils and popped into lessons and found out about the fa­cil­i­ties and ac­tiv­i­ties of­fered out­side class so the stu­dents can develop into well-rounded adults.

Year 10 stu­dent Ewan Jago, Halton’s Mem­ber Of Youth Par­lia­ment rep­re­sent­ing the bor­ough’s 12,000 young peo­ple, also spent time with the MP to dis­cuss the is­sues in his man­i­festo.

Em­lyn Wright, Or­mis­ton Bol­ing­broke Acad­emy prin­ci­pal, said he was proud to talk about all the amaz­ing things he had dis­cov­ered about the school so far, and was happy to dis­cuss some of his pro­pos­als and plans with the goal of mak­ing sure the acad­emy goes from strength to strength.

Mr Wright said: “It was a real plea­sure to show Mike Ames­bury MP around our won­der­ful school as we have so much to be proud of.”
