Bowl­ing Club roll to a white­wash tri­umph over Ham­mer & Pin­cers

ON Mon­day night in the Widnes & District Darts League, the Widnes Bowl­ing Club 501 League con­tin­ued.

The Mill Brow SC at home to Halton Sta­dium took an early lead with two in a row from Alan Magee (16 darts in the first leg) and John Kilkenny.

The Brow came back to level with wins from Dave Steven­son and their open­ing pair, Dave Pow­ell & Kevin Helps.

The Sta­dium took the lead again via Ed­die Doot­son & Kevin Gar­cia, but the lead did not last as the Brow lev­elled through Brian Spruce & Paul Linger (19 darts in the first leg).

This par­ity was not to last as the Sta­dium ral­lied, se­cur­ing the re­main­ing three games and the match via Kevin Gar­cia (14 dart sec­ond leg), John Bowles (15 darts and 180) and Joe Price.

The Mill­field at home to the Gold­mine con­ceded the first game to the vis­i­tors’ Karl Windisch.

Ian Wall then lev­elled for Mill­field and they went ahead via Brian Dut­ton. The Gold­mine made it 2-2 through their open­ing pair, John Taylor & Josh Bury. The Mill­field then took the next game through pair Michael Howard & Brian Dut­ton. The score was quickly lev­elled with a win from the Gold­mine’s Karl Windisch & Terry Roach (16 darts in sec­ond leg).

The Gold­mine then added two fur­ther wins from Josh Bury and Terry Roach (18 and 13 darts plus a 180) en­sur­ing their vic­tory.

Keith Hora­bin took the fi­nal con­so­la­tion game for the Mill­field.

Simms Cross In­sti­tute at home to the Welling­ton had a bad start as the first four games went to the vis­i­tors’ Ste Whit­field, S De­vany and J Bar­ber fol­lowed by their open­ing pair, Ste High­field & James Holden.

The Stute re­cov­ered the next game through Glynn Owen & Keith Glover, only to see the Welling­ton’s J Cross­ley & Karl Whit­field (19 dart sec­ond leg) and J Cross­ley (16 darts, a brace of 180s and check­outs of 145 and 140) take the next two games and the match for the Welling­ton.

The Stute’s Glynn Owen won the fi­nal game.

Widnes Bowl­ing Club at home to the Ham­mer & Pin­cers had a bril­liant night as they took all nine games and the match via Dave Ger­rard, Alan Clark and Joe Batty (18 darts and a 113 fin­ish) in the sin­gles. A fur­ther three wins came from pairs Alex McGill & Dave Pick­les, Tommy Robert­son & Dave Ger­rard and Scott Grady & Mark Smith.

This was then backed up by the fi­nal three sin­gles – Dave Pick­les (13 darts), Tommy Robert­son (18 and 17 darts along with a 100 fin­ish) and M Smith. ● Re­ports from the Mill Brow SC RTB League on page 51.
