Bowling Club roll to a whitewash triumph over Hammer & Pincers

ON Monday night in the Widnes & District Darts League, the Widnes Bowling Club 501 League continued.

The Mill Brow SC at home to Halton Stadium took an early lead with two in a row from Alan Magee (16 darts in the first leg) and John Kilkenny.

The Brow came back to level with wins from Dave Stevenson and their opening pair, Dave Powell & Kevin Helps.

The Stadium took the lead again via Eddie Dootson & Kevin Garcia, but the lead did not last as the Brow levelled through Brian Spruce & Paul Linger (19 darts in the first leg).

This parity was not to last as the Stadium rallied, securing the remaining three games and the match via Kevin Garcia (14 dart second leg), John Bowles (15 darts and 180) and Joe Price.

The Millfield at home to the Goldmine conceded the first game to the visitors’ Karl Windisch.

Ian Wall then levelled for Millfield and they went ahead via Brian Dutton. The Goldmine made it 2-2 through their opening pair, John Taylor & Josh Bury. The Millfield then took the next game through pair Michael Howard & Brian Dutton. The score was quickly levelled with a win from the Goldmine’s Karl Windisch & Terry Roach (16 darts in second leg).

The Goldmine then added two further wins from Josh Bury and Terry Roach (18 and 13 darts plus a 180) ensuring their victory.

Keith Horabin took the final consolatio­n game for the Millfield.

Simms Cross Institute at home to the Wellington had a bad start as the first four games went to the visitors’ Ste Whitfield, S Devany and J Barber followed by their opening pair, Ste Highfield & James Holden.

The Stute recovered the next game through Glynn Owen & Keith Glover, only to see the Wellington’s J Crossley & Karl Whitfield (19 dart second leg) and J Crossley (16 darts, a brace of 180s and checkouts of 145 and 140) take the next two games and the match for the Wellington.

The Stute’s Glynn Owen won the final game.

Widnes Bowling Club at home to the Hammer & Pincers had a brilliant night as they took all nine games and the match via Dave Gerrard, Alan Clark and Joe Batty (18 darts and a 113 finish) in the singles. A further three wins came from pairs Alex McGill & Dave Pickles, Tommy Robertson & Dave Gerrard and Scott Grady & Mark Smith.

This was then backed up by the final three singles – Dave Pickles (13 darts), Tommy Robertson (18 and 17 darts along with a 100 finish) and M Smith. ● Reports from the Mill Brow SC RTB League on page 51.
