STATUE APPEAL SUPPORT

- Tony Miller Secretary and founder Sgt Thomas Mottershead statue appeal, Founder Todger Jones statue appeal

AS secretary and founder of the Sgt Thomas Mottershead statue appeal, I would like to thank everyone who has donated to and helped the appeal.

Unfortunately I cannot thank everyone personally, which is a great sadness.

But some people have stood out in helping the appeal in various ways.

Richard Bamber from Anthony’s Travel, Dave Rolt and Richard Munson both from Widnes Vikings, Nigel Spencer a Warrington firefighter, Michael English, a watch dealer from Yorkshire, two anonymous donors of £5,000 and £3,000, both of which I cannot name.

Asda, Jaguar-Land Rover and Martin McCoy from Halton Borough Council open spaces for all his work for getting our WREN grant and planning permission.

The appeal had collection tins at various public houses, I would like to thank the people who put money into them, and of course the owners/managers of these establishments, The Four Topped Oak, Parklands, The Tavern, The Albion, The Crown, The Ring O’Bells.

But a special thank you must go to the 310 Squadron (Widnes) Air Cadets who collected money in all weathers for the appeal.

They will head the parade and form a guard of honour around the statue when it is unveiled on April 1 next year.

The biggest thank you goes to the committee, Chris Stapleton, Dave Grey and Bev Francis. ●
