-

● AN English teacher at a Runcorn high school has written and published a book telling the tale of a dystopian world ravaged by environmental calamity and authoritarianism.

Flow, written by Ormiston Bolingbroke Academy’s (OBA) Clare Littlemore has been available to buy in print or eBook format online from October 6 and is aimed at a teenage and young adult audience for readers aged 13 years and above.

Mrs Littlemore has launched a series of assemblies to talk to pupils about her writing and self-publishing and how students can aspire to fulfil their dreams.

An OBA spokeswoman said Mrs Littlemore had been looking forward to publishing the book.

Flow is the first in a series of books about a group of survivors struggling to avoid death after their world has been devastated by floods.

The protagonist is 16-year-old Quin who lives in The Beck, a saviour society trying to rebuild the lives of their people.

Quin must contend with tough Beck law and rules have to be followed to sustain life under the constant threat of flooding, but once she discovers a horrifying truth, she knows she cannot stay silent forever.

Sheena Oulton, assistant principal, said: “We would like to congratulate Mrs Littlemore on this amazing achievement.

“We wish her every success with this publication and look forward to updating you on her future successes.”
