YOUR CHAMPIONS 2017 Skip and cycling drive for hospice

-

AONE-MAN charity fundraising dynamo from Runcorn who completed a gruelling 12-hour bikeathon and skipathon in aid of Halton Haven has been nominated for the Your Champions awards.

Nick Vaughan was joined by friend to cycle a static bike from 8am-8pm at Tesco in Widnes while other friends and family skipped alongside him.

His fundraising began after his wife Roz passed away in September 2014, having been cared for at the hospice.

Nick has raised more than £15,000 for Halton Haven, having completed two 24-hour skipathons and, most recently, from a 24-hour bikeathon last year.

As well as Nick’s 12 hours of cycling, he was joined by The Voice contestant Charlotte Olivia Shepherd, an army bugler, acoustic bands and singers, and plenty of live music to keep shoppers – and fundraisers – entertained.

Nick said, “The hospice is close to my heart as sadly my wife passed away there. She asked me to raise funds and I’m a man of my word!

“This is the fourth time we’ve done a fundraising challenge like this and we would love the help of the Halton public to ensure we raise plenty of money for the hospice.”

Chris Andrews, Halton Haven community fundraising manager, said: ● “Nick is doing an incredible job with his latest bikeathon.

“We’re always amazed that he keeps setting himself these challenges and raising such an amazing amount from them too.

“Without Nick and others like him, the hospice wouldn’t exist, so we are incredibly grateful for his hard work and support.”
