HEATH Business And Technical Park in Runcorn has welcomed three more firms to its laboratories and offices.

ASI Solutions, which specialises in the supply and application of preservation treatments for asphalt surfaces and polymer modification systems, has taken a 369 sq ft laboratory for research and development.

ChatterBug Speech And Language Therapy Services moved in during September, fresh from winning a contract to provide children’s language and speech services in Halton.

And Clyz Lab is aiming to establish itself as Britain’s first chemosensitivity lab for testing how effective chemotherapy drugs are at killing rogue cells.

Lesley Lunt, Heath business park’s sales manager, said: “The summer season was very busy with new businesses moving on site, and a number of existing residents moving to larger premises.

“We are delighted that companies from a diverse field of industries and specialisms choose The Heath and look forward to working with them as they grow their business.”

Paul Acock, ASI Solutions technical director, said: “The lab itself is very good and the facilities were such that we could pretty much move in and get going straight away.

“All of the Heath’s services are very good.

“The conference facilities are great for our board meetings, the restaurant is convenient and serves good food, the staff are very friendly.

“I think the postal service is very good, actually.

“Post is delivered to the door and you can send anything you need to post back with the delivery person.

“I don’t even need to leave the lab.”

He added: “Our head office is in Milton Keynes but the nature of our work means that, although quite a small company of around 15 people, we are dotted around the South and working in different areas.

“I live in Northwich, so one of the key benefits to ● come from opening this laboratory is its locality and how that will help to speed up our research and development.

“But also, many of the businesses we work with are based in this region and, as we work globally as well, the access to Liverpool and Manchester airports is great too.

“Road links are also good, and set to improve further with the opening of the new Mersey Gateway over the Mersey, so we are well placed here.”

Asma Khanum, ChatterBug consultant speech and language therapist, said she values the park’s accessibility and security.

She said: “The Heath was able to meet all of our business needs and within a tight turnaround time.

“SOG’s (Heath owners) staff have been instrumental in getting our offices ready, enabling us to run planned inductions for around 25 people.

“We have found them to be very responsive and they work quickly, which has been very important for us.”

Dr Himanshu Kataria, Clyz Lab chief executive, said the park offered the cost-effective, professional and supportive service he needed to establish his start-up biotechnology firm.

He is now working to boost cancer treatments to optimise the right treatment for specific patients, improving quality of life and saving lives.

Dr Kataria said: “Everyone at the Heath has been very supportive, which is just what I needed as a start-up.

“They’ve taken this project, organised all of the costs – which were very reasonable – and been very professional in helping me to establish the laboratory.”
